If leaders want to show true leadership and do something completely different, they should learn from this one controversial figure, and even the way the leadership He brings. In the Christian tradition, he called the Messiah, the Savior of the World, He is the one and only Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ openly declared Himself as the savior of the world, but in fact the world is not easily accept His presence. Jesus Christ conveys His mission and vision in order for any personal human able to feel safety offered by Him.
The presence of Jesus is not to make human free from suffering but to give abundant life to those who wants receive, it means that Jesus has a mission that He came to deliver the news of liberation and serve those who needs. Jesus in every action never distinguish the background of people who want to be helped by Him, even lepers who were considered such a sinful person for community as well. Jesus had a vision of the Kingdom of God which is very well known, that’s Beatitudes (Sermon on the Mount).
Empowering leaders envision an ideal future that give direction to their organizations. They articulate and get support to achieve their vision as far as the entire organization. Jesus taught His disciples to become a leader that has a mission and commitment. Empowering leader is a leader who rejected the establishment, build a new direction and move dynamically. Jesus taught His disciples to be a leader who has a dream and values, such as: love, unity, service, giving, faith, joy, prayer and testimony without these values are impossible for becoming empower leaders. In addition to the values, Jesus also embed character which became a basic of Jesus’s leadership, which are: humble, courageous and wise, intimate relationship with God and different (dare be transeter or even controversial).
Jesus Christ from the beginning teach leadership to his disciples by example, through His word and actions. Jesus leadership style is unique and spectacular. He showed leadership when healed lepers, He is very caring and responsive to people in need. Jesus also drove away the merchants and clean the house of worship, he opposed the institution, or when he visited the house of Zacchaeus the publican, he opened the door of dialogue and approched the man who condemned by society, even with the courage he willingly hung on the cross. He consistently pursuing its vision and mission till willing to sacrifice His life, that’s only a small part of the big action of Jesus, which may be for this time is impossible to do by the leaders now on.
Leadership as a service became a priority of Jesus, "whoever wants to become great among you, let him be your servant; and whoever wants to be prominent among you, let him be your servant; like the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve " these are the words of Jesus when He taught leadership and this theory He showed when He washed the feet of His disciples. Humility is the main qualities of a true leader of character, leadership as service should be performed by a compassionate, full of compassion like "The Good Samaritan" story illustrates concern, caring and compassionate service. Jesus gives an overview of leadership style that is truly exciting and constantly repeated (important) in the New Testament. Leadership style of Jesus is offered as a shepherd (a concern, courage and guidance), as a waiter (providing services, support and empowerment) and as a board member (trustworthy and responsible). As a true leader in the institutions of government, business, religious people should see their work as ministry. What you do must be based on who you really are; shepherd, waiters, stewards who serve to Allah (human is the image of God). In the life and ministry of our leadership, we must treat others with respect, fairness, honesty, and love. Thus we will realize the leadership actions of love, justice and caring God to the world. We not only as a witness to the world, but we are small Jesus for the world around us.
