Holistic education is education philosophy comes from a thought which an essence of an individual who can find the identity, purpose and meaning of life through a relationship between community, spiritual values and nature environment. The aim of the holistic education itself is to assist in developing the potential of individuals in a more pleasant learning atmosphere, democratic and humanist through the experience in interacting with the environment around it. Through the holistic education, we expect that all students can be themselves just what they are which they can get freedom in psychological terms, can make right decisions, adjust to the way of learning, obtain social skills and also develop in character and emotional.
The holistic education really concern on the needs and the potential of students in all aspects such as intellectual, artistic, emotional, creative, physical and spiritual aspect. This learning process becomes personal responsibility as well as collective responsibility; therefore this kind of learning is more directed to how to teach and how the students learn. In holistic education, a role and the authority of teacher to lead and control the learning activities is less, teacher has a great role as mentor, friend and facilitator.
